911 Dispatch Center
The Franklin County 911 Center is located on Bare Hill Road in Malone, NY.
A large amount of time, traveling and training has been performed to make this transition and trial period a complete success. Tupper Lake Sergeant Sean Stradley spent a great deal of time traveling to the 911 center in Malone to sit with personnel there to see how their operations work, explain how our department operates and sitting with the dispatchers and the CAD, computer aided dispatch, system and entering a wealth of information into the system as it applies to police related calls, specifically our department. Franklin County 911 is dedicating a dispatcher specifically to our department during the hours of the trial period. These dispatchers, and their supervisory personnel, have also been to our Village and have worked inside our police station as well as riding along in our patrol cars to see how our department operates and to get a general understanding of the layout of our Village and locations of different buildings.
Based on this training and coordination efforts that have been put in place over the past several months, Chief Fee is confident with this transition. We have seen our dedicated dispatcher at work and are fully confident in his abilities. Both agencies are fully aware that this system will not be perfect at first and things will arise that need to be changed, corrected or added to the way we do business. We feel we have covered all the major areas to continue to provide service and safety to our citizens without a very noticeable change in our operations from the publics viewpoint.
Should you be one of the first people that has to deal with the 911 dispatcher over the next couple of months, we are asking that you be patient and courteous with him. He has specific procedure he must follow and will be asking you for a great deal more information than would have been asked of you previously by just calling our department.
