Fire / EMS Services
911 in Malone has been dispatching Tupper Lake Fire and Rescue for a number of years now. All emergency phone numbers to these departments have been rolling over to Franklin County 911 since they took over dispatching for these services and this procedure will continue. Any back-up services the Tupper Lake Police Department provided to Fire and/or EMS will now be taken over by the 911 Dispatcher. Requests from the fire department and/or rescue to our police department will all go through 911. Fire and EMS will still be able to communicate with our patrol cars and our station via radio, just as they have previously.
While both of these services are extremely important to public safety, there will be no noticeable change in the way these services operate or how they are dispatched as a result of the transition of the Tupper Lake Police Department. Should a situation arise that was affected by this transition and overlooked, The Tupper Lake Police Department and 911 will take immediate action to correct any issue that arises. Our patrol officers will still hear all calls for service for Fire and/or EMS in the patrol cars, as they do now, and as a safety measure, the 911 dispatcher will be notifying our patrol officers via radio every time fire or EMS is dispatched, just to make sure our patrol officers are aware of these types of calls for service. Our department will continue, when available, to be first responders to all fire and EMS calls in the Village of Tupper Lake.
If you have a need for Fire or EMS , for the most efficient service, please dial 911 directly. Should you call the police department and get the auto attendant, you will be instructed to hang up and dial 911 anyway. If all else fails, the last option in the auto attendant will connect you to a 911 dispatcher.
